Tetiana Tumasian

Curator, gallerist

Tetiana Tumasian has been a director of the Kharkiv Municipal Gallery since its founding in 1996; she curates main program activity of the gallery.

Tetiana Tumasian graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture. In 2003 she has founded and become the head of the NonStopMedia Festival for Youth Projects, the first Ukrainian youth art forum transformed to biennale.

Since 2007 has been curating the contemporary art gallery «VOVATANYA», including its participation in international exhibition projects: in the II Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art, in the Second Kyiv International Biennale ARSENALE–2012, in the ART KYIV Contemporary» (2013, 2011, 2010).

Since 2012 has been curating the exhibition program of the first Kharkiv centre for contemporary art «YermilovCentre», organizing a string of projects of high importance for the Kharkiv city: «Unrespectable: To commemorate Boris Mikhailov 80th birth anniversary», «Hnylytsky. Darwin str.»; exhibition of the leading Ukrainian contemporary artists within the ARSENALE–2012 parallel program; projects for the Centre of Contemporary Art opening dedicated to the continuity of avant-garde art «From Constructivism to Contemporary».

Tetiana Tumasian is a repeated winner of the Creative Municipal Prize. She was a member of the PinchukArtCentre Prize for the young artists Selection Committee (2013), juror of the NonStopMedia Festival for Youth Projects, Council of Experts of the Art Galleries Association of Ukraine, Contemporary Artists’Association, Artistic Council of the Kharkiv City Council.
