Victoria Burlaka

Curator, art historian, gallerist

Victoria Burlaka was born in 1974 in Kyiv. Lives and works in Kyiv. Since 2002 has been a researcher at the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Was a curator of several Kyiv-based galleries: «Tseh gallery» (2005–2006), «Kyiv FineArt» (2006–2007), Mala Galereya (Small Gallery) of Mystetskyi Arsenal (2007– 2012), «Project Space» gallery (2012). Since 2009 has been a curator and owner of Institutskaya Gallery. In 2013 was a curator of the Ukrainian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale.

Victoria Burlaka is a prolific art critic, in 1996–2002 has been an observer of «Dzerkalo Tuzhnia» newspaper. She is author of the «History of the Image. Art of the 2000th» research book. Since 2013 she has also been a columnist of the Focus magazine.
