Oksana Barshynova

Art historian, curator

Oksana Barshynova graduated in art history from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture. She is head of Modern Art Research Department of the National Art Museum of Ukraine, teaches contemporary art history at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.

Barshynova curated various exhibitions at the National Art Museum of Ukraine: Ukrainian New Wave (2009), Scream (Oleh Chorny and Hennadiy Khmaruk, 2009), Hnylytskyi. Cadavre exquis (co-curator Lesia Zaiats, 2011), Myth.  Ukrainian Baroque (co-curator Halyna Skliarenko, 2012), Sleeping Beauty (solo of Taras Polataiko (2012), Chasing Time (2013) etc. Barshynova participated in development of the new approach for exhibiting 20th century art in the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

She was a member of Selection Committee for the  PinchukArtCentre Prize  (2013).

Barshynova in an author of numerous publications about Ukrainian contemporary art in professional and popular press, takes part in art conferences and round tables.
